I love Skillshare, I have logged several hours of classes myself to better learn my film and audio recording skills, just to create my own class! The Skillshare team has supported me every step of the way to help create the highest quality of class to benefit both the instructor and student experience! Give it a shot, you’ve got nothing to lose!” -Steve White, White’s Photography

This is what students are already saying about Steve’s class:

“Wow! This class was amazing. I will be trying out some of the low cost hacks to make my light brushes and then use them in a couple weeks when we are camping. Any one can do this effect with the steps that Steve shares in this class.” -Stephanie Bergeron, Art Teacher Digital & Traditional Media

” I’ve always wanted to know how light painting was done. Steve’s class has crystal clear instructions and useful tips for anyone looking to do light painting. Including the [Spoiler] shortcut to working out the exposure settings/length for the desired look, without spending (read wasting) precious time doing 3 minute test runs and adjusting on the fly. I will be returning to this class often I think, once I get all my gear and am ready to go out on my first test run!” -Ilya Lobanov, Brand Specialist and Graphic Designer.

“It’s obvious Steve knows what he’s talking about. I had heard the term used before, but wasn’t sure of the actual steps involved. I don’t know if I will use any of these tricks in the photography I do, but I love that I know some tricks I could try to implement if I want to experiment.” -Eric Darrah, Toy Photographer

” i have always found light painting photos interesting and creative and now i have learnt to create my own photos using this technique! although, i had done research beforehand, i learnt so much in the space of 46 minutes. it was very intriguing to learn about the three different twilights and when best to take photos during those times. I extremely enjoyed this and would definitely recommend.” -M.M.

Recent Corporate Art Installations

We are excited to show off  the Steven White “Michigan” Photographic Art installations at the new Flexfab International Distribution Center in Grand Rapids Michigan and Spectrum Health Pennock Hospital in Hastings Michigan.

Flexfab and designer Melissa Brill of Brown’s Custom One, chose very contemporary metal prints with a sharp matte finish for their Michigan wall decor.

Spectrum Health Pennock Hospital and Morgan Rademacher, Communications Specialist, went with a soft, rich classic canvas wrap and themed their Meeting Rooms and Board Room after State Parks of Michigan! The Mackinac Island State Park was chosen for their main board room and the Spectrum Health Pennock Professional Office Buildings used Hoeft State Park, Porcupine Mountain State Park, Wilderness State Park and Straits State Park for their impressive new meeting rooms.

We truly appreciate their business and allowing us to showcase their projects here. Enjoy.

Wildflower Field Burn at Barry’s Prairie

My faithful assistant Deb Raffler and I had the awesome opportunity to photograph an intentional field burn, part of a process to bring back Michigan indigenous plant and wildlife. This is the property that I do wildflower portraits and that we often take our photography classes to. From early evening, through a gorgeous sunset and into the darkness, the conditions and dramatic photo-ops kept developing and presenting themselves. I shot over 500 frames and don’t even know where to begin with the variety of interesting choices! Thank you Bill and Gail Barry and the fire crew!!!

Adventures of a Photography School… Hands On.

We believe that if you have fun, dive in and do it yourself, that you will learn the most. And why not have a blast while you’re doing it? All photographs in this show were taken of and during the Steven White Photographic Workshop classes(SWPW).

Like anything, when you share a passion with like minded people, you create a bond. For many of the alumni of our six week classes, that’s exactly what happens. Photography is an amazing outlet for self expression. It can be emotional. It can be spiritual. It can be an escape on one hand and self discovery on the other. There is far more than one way to use photography and therein lies the beauty! Like any form of communication, the more one develops the fundamentals, the more rewarding that self expression will be and the more naturally creativity will flow. Sharing this growth and discovery with each other, in the field, in the classroom and on our private social forum, has created a wonderful family. We share successes, root each other on, motivate each other to always carry that camera and to not get too busy to get out there and shoot it. Please! Come and join our community! Go to the SWPW Class Information menu tab, then click the Class Information pdf, to view course descriptions, sessions, dates and times. When you know which class you want, go to the SWPW Select Classes menu tab to sign up and pay. It’s that easy, what are you waiting for? See you in class!
